AfroCubism

It took fourteen years for some of Mali and Cuba's best-known musicians to produce AfroCubism.  In 1996, a meeting was planned but the Mali group never showed up to Havana.  It was a long wait, but the end result was fantastic - named on endless Best of 2010 lists.  The traditional sounds of Africa and Cuba come together seamlessly to create a music that is familiar and at the same time completely new.  AfroCubism is about more than sounds coming together; two different cultures create something so beautiful, perhaps this collaboration is a life lesson as well.
