Buon giorno! Two summers ago I had the incredible opportunity to travel all over Europe to study abroad. With my very large suitcase in hand, I boarded a long flight to my new home in Florence, Italy for the next nine weeks. I had no idea how lucky I was to have a chance like this; I took a Florentine cooking class as well as a Renaissance Art History class and loved every minute of it. And even though my Italian never really proved to be a strength of mine, I was able to master a few very important words: vino, formaggio, and ciao bella! These memories all came flooding back to me last week when a customer came in and told me they were taking a trip to Italy for a month this summer. I about shrieked with excitement upon hearing this and immediately we began exchanging our favorite places to eat, drink, explore, and shop. I had some amazing travels in Europe that summer but nothing compared to Florence. Its beauty and history can capture the heart of anyone who walks along the cobblestone streets admiring the work of some of the world’s best artists and architects. Even though I do not know when I will get to travel back to this magical city, I do know I have these unbelievable memories to keep me smiling throughout the day! Check out my favorite places and spaces in Florence! For a million dollar view, check out the Piazza Michelangelo.
For a refreshing drink stop by Art Bar for a passion fruit capiroska during “apertivo”.
The scent of leather is absolutely intoxicating at the Il Bisonte store!
For the best sandwich ever, you’ll find the locals heading to Il Fratellini for fresh prosciutto and sun dried tomato sandwiches. The best kept “secret” in Florence!
I can still see the lights glowing from my window of the Basilica San Lorenzo. Be sure to check out the Medici Chapel on the side entrance of the Basilica.
