Now that’s just not right! Maybe I’m a little slow on the uptake. Many of you wine connoisseurs are well aware of what I’m getting ready to explain. But, for those of us who buy our wine while multitasking at the grocery store, I think you need to know this. All those great tags that tell you about the point system and how many points a particular wine has, AKA how great it is… don’t matter! Wine Spectator is an example. The vintage year they quote, which I have found in every grocery store that I have gone to, DOES NOT MATCH UP WITH THE WINE THEY’RE SELLING! For instance, it may say “2011 Midsummer Cellar Grenach, 90 points”, but you look at the tag of the wine they’re selling, and it’s a 2012, not a 2011! So they’re promoting a different wine. Classic bait and switch. Hey! I’m grocery shopping here! I’m in a hurry here! I’m onto you! So match it up fellas, match it up. You’ll be surprised how many times it doesn’t match up.
